Kagawa Sensei (8th Dan), Swords Print

Well done to SKIF Ireland and St Vincent's & St Joseph's club members that attended the course with Kagawa Sensei (8th Dan) organised by Sensei's Scott Langley and Dermot O'Keeffe, JKS, in Swords on Monday, 16th March.  Kagawa Sensei is a remarkable exponent of Shotokan Karate and the one evening course, accommodated within his European travel schedule, was a good opportunity to experience his dynamic and powerful style. His demonstration of strength and flexibility, especially with the repetitions of yoko geri kekomi, were remarkable.  All are grateful to Sensei's Langley and O'Keeffe for the invitation to the course.

Club Members Defibrillator Training, 28th February Print

Anyone planning to be unwell during training, should check who else is training that and make sure they were at the First Aid, Defibrillator course at St Joseph's on 28th February.  The course was organised by school principal, Pat Fanning, for anyone associated with the school to be able use the school's defibrillator unit, and it was excellent for people new to CPR or as a re-fresher for those who had first aid and CPR experience. 

 

Congratulations to Allyson, Conor (honorary club member!), Helena, Philip, James and Gearóid who join other club "First Aiders" of Stephen, Eddie and Martina.  Special thanks goes to John and the St John's Ambulance instructors for this very worthwhile training.  As they said, hopefully we will never need to use it!
