About Shotokan KarateShotokan Karate is the most popular style of Japanese Karate practiced worldwide. Its origins lie in Okinawa and in the early 1900's was brought to mainland Japan by the father of modern karate Master Gichin Funakoshi ("Shoto" was his pen name; "kan" represents a club or organisation). Shotokan Karate emphasises such Japanese traditions as formality, etiquette and respect.
About SKIF-Ireland SKIF-Ireland was founded in 1978 and has over 50 clubs throughout the country, with Nobuaki Kanazawa Sensei (6th Dan) as Honourary President and Sensei Neil Sargent (7th Dan) as the National Chief Instructor. Five SKIF-Ireland clubs in Dublin include St. Vincents & St. Josephs Shotokan Katate Clubs. St. Pauls Club set up by Sensei Pat Ryan (4th Dan), trains at St. Pauls College, Raheny
About Shotokan Karate-do International Federation (SKIF)Shotokan Karate-do International Federation (SKIF) - is one of the main Shotokan associations and headed by the Japanese Chief Instructor, Hirokazu Kanazawa Sensei (10th Dan), who is highly regarded in the Martial Arts world. Through the SKIF organisation, he promotes the technical development of Karate and places special emphasis on the involvement of youth, seeing them as the future of Karate.
