A valid licence is required to practice Karate. This gives details of rank and experience for gradings or competitions. SKIF-Ireland licences and gradings are recognised world-wide. Annual membership [from September] covers Licence and Insurance and new students must return a completed and signed SKIF-Ireland application form to begin training. New members also receive a Grading Book.
By their nature as combat sports, Martial Arts and Karate can involve risk of injury. Proper training minimises the risk but this must be accepted to take part. Juniors must have approval of parents or guardians to train. Instructors should be told of any particular medical conditions or injuries. Children's SportSt. Vincents & St. Josephs Shotokan Karate Clubs endorse the Code of Ethics and Good Practice for children's sport in Ireland. |
